The works on paper in the Harmonia Macrocosmica series are a two-dimensional transposition of the eponymous works on marble. The gemstones scattered on the paper bestow a precious dimension on the work, as the patterns formed by these compositions are reminiscent of star mapping. Whether hand-cut as a cabochon or rose-cut, each stone looks like a drop of watercolour placed on the paper and not absorbed by it, freezing it on the spot like tinted ice.
Each work corresponds to one of the artist’s personal constellations, an instinctively-created allegorical language whose meaning – derived from the Universe of the Marvellous – is specific to him.
Note : “Harmonia Macrocosmica” is a famous star atlas written by cosmographer Andreas Cellarius (1596-1665).

Each one has a unique arrangement of coloured stones and are numbered, dated and signed by the artist.
