Award statuettes for the Young Activists Summit, 2019 and 2020

Anodized aluminium and Saint-Triphon stone.
Size 30 x 20 cm.

Each piece is unique.

Co-organized by the United Nations, the Swiss radio and television network and the non-profit NGO dev.tv, the Young Activists Summit brought together six young female activists to share their fight and acknowledge their incredible achievements.

The summit was held on 10 December 2019 on Human Rights Day and on 20 November 2020 on world Children’s day, in the highly symbolic Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room at the United Nations in Geneva.

Each activist received a unique handcrafted award specifically designed for the recipient by Geneva artist and designer Philippe Cramer.

Derived from the Captromancie series, the statuettes have anthropomorphic features, evoking the idols from rituals of past civilizations, hammered out from gold plates. The awards are made of gilded aluminium and inserted into stone pedestals from Saint-Triphon, a famous Swiss quarry that is now inactive.

To the artist, they are objects of transmission, reminding us of our past and serving as a talisman to facilitate our inscription in the contemporary world. With his creations, Philippe Cramer invites the viewer to reintegrate the founding elements that built our civilization to help shape its future.
